About Us

Masjid Assyafaah is the fifth mosque under Phase 3 of the Mosque Building Fund (MBF) scheme. It is prominently located at the junction between Canberra Road and Admiralty Lane at Sembawang HDB New Town. The mosque was completed by February 2004. Its inaugration or Waqaf Ceremony was officiated by Mufti of Singapore Syed Isa Mohd Semait on 9th April 2004.

The mosque complex is intended to be a focal point of community activities, catering to the social and spiritual needs of the Muslim community. The mosque is a 4-storey buidling, which can accomodate an estimated 4000 jemaah capacity. It has a gross floor area of 3350 sqm. Being a public building, the mosque had multiple roles to play.

The mosque should signal the beginning of a search for an identity that will reflect the Singaporean mosque. Therefore the design of the mosque deliberately avoids the literal adaptation of icons typically associated with Islam.

history

Assyafaah Mosque actually ‘derived’ from 2 mosque namely; Naval Base Mosque and Jumah Sembawang Mosque who were demolished to give way to a better facilities and bigger mosque for the community.

Hence, Assyafaah Mosque was built to better attend to the needs of the community. Since then, Assyafaah Mosque has flourished and does so by keeping their values close.
